I have never blogged, so if anyone has any suggestions on materials, or topics to cover, please let me know.
I am slated to leave January 21st for Miami Florida, then after being vaccinated and prepped, myself and my training group will be leaving the next day for the capitol of Nicaragua, Managua.
Once in Nicaragua, I will begin a three month training program covering everything from language, culture, and saftey to work skills. This period is also seen as a "trial' period, where the volunteer as well as the program can decide if you are a good match.
Nicaragua is located between Honduras and Costa Rica in central America. Peacecorps presence in the country started in 1969, but was withdrawn in 1978 due to the civil war. In 1991 the program re-opened.
